Essex Down's Syndrome Support Group (EDSS)

Welcome to the Essex Down's Syndrome Support Group's website.

EDSS as it is also known came into existence in September 2008 and became a registered charity six months later.

Our aim is to bring families and professionals together, to help inform and support them in a social environment without any pressure.

We encourage the development of self-advocacy skills amongst children and young people with Down's syndrome, and their parents and carers.

Incorporated on this site are links to a world of information surrounding Down's syndrome (also known as Down Syndrome) and issues related to this condition.

EDSS also has its own on-line special needs toy library with a provision of therapeutic, educational and stimulating toys and games.

World Down's Syndrome Day 2011 (WDSD)
Edss will be holding a WDSD Event on Sunday 20th March 2011, as well as coffee mornings on the actual day which is Monday 21st March 2011. Please keep Sunday free and watch this space. Last year 300 people celebrated it, lets make it more this year!

New Locations
Edss will be leaving the New Windmill Hall and relocating its Upminster meetings to Corbets Tey School. This is just around the corner and the facilities are better. If you want a meeting in your area lets us know and we will see what we can do.
