The Essex Down's Syndrome Support Group, also known as EDSS, held its first meeting on the 21st September 2008. We hold our meetings at the New Windmill Hall in St Marys Lane, Upminster, Essex. The group has a strong social element in its structure and meets on the 3rd Sunday of every other month. Therefore it meets in January, March, May, July, September and November every year. Our meetings have a relaxed atmosphere, bringing together families from all over Essex and beyond. We have children's entertainers, supervised art and craft activities, games for all ages, an information centre covering a wide range of topics and an afternoon buffet. The Essex Down's Syndrome Support Group consists of parents, relatives, friends and people with down's syndrome. It is run by a group of elective group of volunteers. |

Our Main Aims are:
- To provide a support and social network for young people with Down's Syndrome and their families.
- To promote public awareness of Down's Syndrome and to encourage other community groups to become actively involved with us.
- To provide an information service through work at our support group, newsletters and this website.
Our Future Projects include:
- Supporting other local groups who have an interest in Down's Syndrome.
- Organise social events to encourage families to meet up and share ideas.
- Reach out to a wider audience to help promote our cause.
- Create a well maintained and self funding Special Needs Toy Library.
